Current Lake Lanier Fishing Report – Fishing report from February 5th, 2013

Striper fishing on Lake Lanier hasn’t changed a whole lot since my last report. The fish are still scattered out all over the lake. There are some pretty big schools showing up out in the river channel 60-80ft deep. I have also heard from a few bass fisherman and a few striper anglers that they have been catching them up shallow in the back of the creeks. Different tactics are working at different times. Overall most of the fish I’m catching is on down rods. Normally I would be doing a lot of crappie fishing right now but this year most of my calls have been for striper trips. The little bit of crappie fishing I’ve done has been shooting deep water docks with 1/32oz jigs. Looks like most of the cold weather is behind us and our striper and crappie bite is just going to get better.
