Current Lake Lanier Fishing Report – Fishing report from December 12th, 2012

The striper fishing on Lake Lanier right now is going great. Good schools of stripers showing up all over the lake. Just about every creek on the lake has some fish in them plus the lower end of both of our rivers. This is the time of year you don’t need to have a one track mind. Everyday the fish are wanting something different. Free lined gizzard shad and trout have been doing good most days but somedays they just will not come up to eat a bait on the surface so I will swap to down rods. If for some reason they will not eat live bait 9 times of of 10 they will hammer a umbrella rig. The key to finding the fish right now is finding the bait. If you find big schools of threadfins the fish will be around close. Don’t forget to get your loved ones a Lake Lanier Striper Charters gift certificate for Christmas! Good luck everyone and hope to see you out there.

Awesome catches for December! Will January and February be just as good or is it better to wait for early spring?

Yes sir as long as it don’t get to cold. Looks like most of the cold weather is behind us.
